Addressing

AddressingEach interface (on host or router) needs a unique address and a mask

DHCP is an automatic configuration protocol used on IP network. Computers that are connected to non-DHCP equipped IP networks must be configured before they can communicate with other computers on the network. DHCP allows a computer to be configured automatically, eliminating the need for intervention by a network administrator. Here, it is used for linking addresses to [x hosts].

IPv6 hosts can construct a link-local address from their Link Layer address automatically.

Hosts may discover local router through DHCP or IPv6 Neighbor Discovery

[1]ND typically manually creates addressing plan.
